This is the initial painting, so it looks rough now, but it will improve. The bronze armor is painted with GSW metal pigment mixed with Vallejo metal gloss varnish:
This is awesome! I love the Bronze Age Greeks, from an historical standpoint, & something I’d love to model more. I wish I could find a Mycenean chariot in 54mm or 1/35 scale, as a modeling project.
Sorry I can’t help with that, but 28mm (1/56th) aren’t such a bad size for a display piece; I had been contemplating one for the “Setting hitched” GB…
As originally issued these tended to come with two crews, a Minoan (Dendra panoply) or a somewhat later Mycenaean variant, they seem to have mixed these up now (same with their Lansquenet cannon and crews). Wargames Atlantic do the chariots only in plastic, you’ll need to source a crew; some retailers will sell you one chariot rather than having to buy the box.
Hey, that looks great! I really like the metal armor…very unique and realistic in the color shifts, tones, and pitting to signify that it’s not “pure” cast and super-clean.
Painting all that stitches was tedious, all mistakes will correct later, too tired now
There is some deformation from the printing on the right shoulder pad I didn’t notice, it will be reprinted.
I wish they included the “8” type of shield also, it will look neat on the figure. So I decided to go with the cow hide type from the provided shields:
