I don’t see that the the brake wheel was that tedious - looks like he did a pretty good job of cleaning it up. See through cat walks in N scale is pretty impressive as well.
The see through catwalks are very thin, too. Cut bars and air hoses in N scale are not prevalent, either. I am hesitant to weather the car and obscure that stenciling. I’m happy with the scaling of the ladders and rungs and grabs, etc. I’m sure that there are people out there that make those to scale in N, but I would not want to try to handle such a model.
