Can any tell me what the black, bag s or rolled up tarps(?) are on the turrets of these Merkavas from Gaza in 2009? Almost every pic I have from that short conflict shows them on Merkava 4 turrets

They are sand bags, which they please on the track which cannot be removed with the pin, so an explosive charge can be used instead. The sandbags hopefully stop any debris from shooting out, and injuring the crew. This is what Michael Mass said they were used for!!
YES!! Haha I knew I had seen a post about what they were on the IDFinScale forum when it was around but couldn’t remember what
