At last! I’ll have a dozen. Hopefully they will do the SAS S1 as well.
To be honest Jason, if they don’t, then I think having had a cursory glance, with a cross-kitting exercise from the Italeri Commando Car" (ie WW2 SAS Jeep), and say, a Bren from the spares box, converting one into the SAS version might be quite simple. Scratch a radio set; add Bergen rucksacks from Accurate Armour (or even a Gecko accessory set I think) then job just about done.
Add figures to taste (Denison/Windproof smocks) , perhaps a BD trouser mod, and you’d have it.
Wow looks very nice. Is this the short wheel base version?
Richard, I’m far from a Land Rover Ninja (I only drove the things!), but the Mk 1 and 2 were the 80" chassis versions so “Yes” as I think that was the only type at the time. The longer wheel base versions came later with the Series II and III - I think; identifying what is what with Land Rovers defeats me.
If this does indeed come out, then with the fairly recent AK Interactive version, we seem to be quite well served with models of the salient types of the Cold War. The Revell one needs a few details but makes up into something half decent I feel.
For those wishing to portray earlier ones, Korean War onwards, then this type, together with the AK Interactive one, means those phases are covered: Middle East, Far East, Africa, BAOR, UK, just about everywhere(!)
That’s a Series I with the steel grill, lights in the grill and ‘hitched up’ body work, ie it doesn’t cover the chassis.
I owned a Series IIA LWB 109 and a Series III SWB back in the day for my sins.
I was just going to say that(!)
CAD renderings now available over on Track-Link; I suppose it’s only fair for me to direct those interested to there, as opposed to filch them for this site:
TRACK-LINK / Forums / New Kit News / CAD Renderings
I am pretty sure that the trailer shown is a US one.
I’ve just had a rather cunning thought; could not this version be somewhat easily converted into the Belgian Minerva?
Someone (ie a Land Rover Ninja) please tell me it’s possible(!)
I should have studied the box art a little closer; it clearly states “Bantam”.
Thank you for the response Brian.
They only did the swb version
Doors need changing
Thanks Terry; bleedin’ obvious when one looks - however I suspect may just be possible. That is, after the zillion other projects I’ve got listed.
Sometime, this hobby, this bloody hobby…
It appears that Gecko have referenced the Land Rover kit as ‘35GM0076’.
Oddly, this reference number has also been used for their 30-ton 4x2 Cargo
Truck. Both kits are listed as ‘future releases’, the latter being mentioned on
the ‘Scalemates’ site. I wonder whether the Land Rover will actually appear,
and with which reference.

As I mentioned Paul:
The SAS version is the 88inch wheelbase, not the 80 shown here so will need a bit more work. Was just hoping that they would to save a bit of scratch building etc. Still hoping that Hobbyboss will do a DPV.
Were the Belgian ones faster than the UK ones? Aerodynamics is the only logical explanation for angling the front of the fenders…
“As the Belgian company did not have the facilities to press the compound curve front wings they opted for a simple folded sheet design, which gave the Minerva its distinctive sloping front”
