New airfix kits

The Saracen should be good.

To be honest, besides from the new Canberra, there wasn’t much I found interesting. Lot of reissues, lots of old stuff back. Charging £30 for the old F-117 is cheeky I thought. Disappointed there was no new Jaguar in 1/72.

These all interest me, especially the Alvis Stalwart variant.

It’s definatly brand new (and a welcome one!), with a complete interior. It can be seen in detail in the youtube release video here (from 9:45 onwards): https://youtu.be/_jfz7OmI35U?si=L4JhoDcc-EEo06SW

The Dragon Saladin was the only good Black Plague kit they released. It still benefits greatly from SMM’s update set though.

To be brutally honest Matthew, one doesn’t even need SMM’s update set - just old fashioned modelling skills!

Modelling skills are sufficient for those with the knowledge and/or access to information.
When I buy an AM-set I am also buying a “copy” of the information that went into
producing the AM-set.

Yes, but the point I’m making is that with a modicum or research, some plastic card, some plastic strip, lead wire, mesh, a few items from the spares box such as say, a .30 MG - in other words what used to be the default setting for modellers - one can still ensure a decent build and not have to pursue after market stuff. OK, after-market might be easier, but somewhere along the way perhaps we forgot those skills?

The Dragon kit received a slating (and certainly Dragon should have done better), often by those who hadn’t built it, or if they had, applied no critical thinking. As a basis for a build utilising what I’ve described above, it came out just fine - see the pic above for a vehicle based in Aden. Not my effort as I stated, but those of a modelling mate, who just applied logic, research and determination(!)

I’ll definitely second that.

Hi funny in away…was debating ordering the Stolly from a US mail order house, 1st place I’ve seen who has the kit and I’m talking maybe got it a month or less ago. But I really want this version with the crane so I’ll wait a loooooong time. New Airfix getting to the US is really on a very slow boat 1 Mike

yeah I saw the youtube video and was impressed. I was hoping the English Electric Lightening was in 1/48 and that they would update RAF Puma helicopter to gulf war era
