Looks like some interesting new kits from airfix. 1/35th Saracen, Cromwell and Stalwart Limber are highlights for on here
Well that annoying🙄guess who just got a Stolly and about to order SMMs crane🙃
Got to get the Saracen! Wonder if they are planning to complete the trilogy with a Saladin to replace the ancient Tamiya one and heavily slagged off Dragon Black Box version?
They don’t have a good track record in 35th.
Given the quality of the Stolly, I’d still go for the SMM crane! The Saracen will be interesting - let’s see what simplifications they can do there…
Based on the Airfix Stalwart kit and price notwithstanding, you will be much better off using the SMM and/or ITA kits to build the REME or Limber versions as I am. And the same I’m sure can be said for the Saracen.
They don’t have a good track record with armour…. hopefully someone at Airfix has carried out a lessons learned exercise in the armour department.
The Saracen is pretty exciting though.
It seems they have their A team in the aircraft range.
I wonder if the Cromwell MkVII will have the right parts? They’d need to replace the upper hull, sprockets, and tracks at the very least.
I’m guessing the Ju-52 isn’t a new tool kit? I’m not sure how I would figure that out though.
Nothing of interest for me there,so will be giving all of them a miss.
The CADs and test shot of the Saracen on FB / YouTube look very nice - an improvement on the Stalwart (which I still like), but time will tell…
Can you post a link for those who don’t do FB?
With an interior and a preorder price of £34,seems a bargain!
The Saracen is very welcome news!
keep with SMM
It could boil down to cost at the end of the day. Go for the whole hog through SMM or buy this and add updates which likely will bring it up to or near the same cost! I got the Ferret but put 7 different updates from SMM onto it to build the exact one I wanted, which with the base kit brought that tiny vehicle up to north of £80. Worth every penny to me.
A lot will depend on the quality of the Fitter parts - we might need to replace them all with SMM parts anyway! And you’d still want to upgrade the base kit with the SMM goodies…
