New kit company or reboxing, Oak models

Not seen this company before, and all three kits are widely available already, but happy to see another player enter the game.

From Scalemates; this is a Chinese brand that began releasing products in 2024. Looks like a lot in each box. Is the quality ok and is pricing competitive?

I believe they have acquired, through one means or another, pre-existing molds.

If you look closely at the Eaglehorn kit you’ll see on the left-hand flap it mentions “parts supplied by” followed by some logos, one of which is that of Bronco Models, and they sell a Panzer II Ausf D which is the Bronco kit. The Lorraine gun behind the Diana on the box art is the Panda kit, and I’m fairly sure the Diana itself is another Bronco kit since the only other kit of that vehicle was a resin set from 1990-something.

I am looking at these kits to see what they do to the prices of the originals on ebay. I already have a Panda Lorraine gun so I’d rather have the Bronco by itself. However, if you have neither kit go for it. This comes with figures but my Lorraine came with metal tracks. One of those situations where both options are good depending on your needs.

And BTW the Lorraine builds well enough but as with all things do dry-fit before committing to anything.

I saw this a few time ago. Not sure 2 kits in 1 box is interesting.

Another brand, “Zimi Models” produces some ex Panda kits and Kitty Hawk kits.

It is not only a rebox, they have added metal barrels and 3D printed parts. I am trying to get more information from them.

Right; I knew the figures were new at least. Had to be some incentive for people to buy the kit over finding the previous releases.

Didn’t Bronco go belly up? Maybe they bought the molds.

Not as far as I know, some stockists in the UK have recently had limited restock.

nope, Bronco are still with us, thankfully; there is this kit coming out soon, HobbyEasy | German Krupp Protze Kfz.70 Personnel Carrier

I do rather like the boxart for the MRAP.

@Newtonk One has to check the kit price.

There are some Chinese model kit companies that list 1/35 and their scale is totally off. One of them was KiTech and their 1/35 OH-6 was “dirt cheap” at $12 at a clearance store and the scale of the pieces were horrendous with some being 1/35 and the minion being 1/44. The two pilots were “false fronts” that had no actual human muscle definition like they were “pillow people.” The instrument panel was a guess of round circles and dials with no accuracy to anything and was 1/72 scale. There was no accuracy whatsoever, so I used the kit for spare parts for Sci-Fi. The box art may look the part of the subject matter, but the parts themselves may be just a guess at the actual vehicle to make a quick dollar off of unsuspecting consumers.

If the kit is too cheap to be within the mainstream of plastic scale model kits, then it’s probably cheap Chinese plastic junk with no resemblance of scale and accuracy.
