Has anyone gotten any further with the construction? I did some work on the cabin and found out that the transparent part for the soft top (canvas) is missing. The provided part in the kit is for the hard top version.
Any idea or experience?
Hallo Andreas,
In English: I put the kit on hold, because I don`t like the way it is done. I will wait for aftermarket and decide to continue construction.
Hi Hans-Hermann,
Den SpaĆ habe ichā¦ Danke!
I can partially agree with you. For this price, you can expect a perfect kit. Unfortunately it has its flaws and does indeed seem a bit thrown together. But the bottom line is that, it is better than its predecessor.
Kit is very good
Hello.
Here comes the answer to the previous rumors. I discovered it by accident and never read it before.
I saw this today too. It will be interesting to see how they do the rear cargo cover. Still no CTIS though.
I really wish they would do an armored guntruck version.

Hi Gino.
Youāre right. It is just a box art, whether the canvas are included is questionable.
Would be nice to see more variants, including a new shelter for the cargo or a ābat mobileā.
Andreas
Yeah, Iād love to see this with a shelter on the back and a big generator trailer to haul - Iād love to build my own truck from my last active duty station. Big olā MI hut full of radios and typewriters and a generator to power them all. Great truck too - fun to drive with an automatic transmission, powerful and reliable motor too.
I doubt that the kit is much different from the so called M923 A2. ILK probably will remove sprue G and thats just it. Knowing Trumpeter, I hardly believe that they will add a canvas for cargo.
We shall see. They will at least have to add a new sprue for the winch parts. Who knows what else they will add.
Apparently the new M925A1 is available. Sprue Brothers is showing it in stock.
It looks to only have one new sprue with the winch parts. No canvas for the rear cargo area, and the sprue with the gun mount is no longer included.
It is a hardtop version though, as shown on the boxtopā¦
ā¦with a new cab sprueā¦
ā¦and on the paint/decal guide.
They donāt make them like this anymore.
A typical Trumpeter/HobbyBoss/ILK āmake the most out of one moldā kit. To me it has no advantage over the previous kit, IĀ“ll pass. I wonder what comes first in China - boxart or kit?
To each their own. I like the winch and hardtop options.
Back to the soft top removal for the M923 kit. I was just going through the instructions for these kits since I plan to start on one soon. I noticed in step 19 that there is an inner rear wall piece with the proper inside support detail. The top of the outer rear wall is the same level as the top of the inner wall (part D21). This will make cutting off the soft top easier by having a line to cut it on.
Hey Gino.
Nice, youāre back on track. Have fun and I canāt wait to see how it turns out in the end.
I have started my 2nd model and will try to make the canvas of the cargo area myself with the help of adhesive aluminum sheet (Ammo of Mig).
Andreas
I started playing with removing the soft top. I decided to go with replacing the rear wall with one from the Italeri kit. I cut the front of the canvas at the windshield first. Then I cut at the bottom of the door openings to remove the rear wall and the canvas top as one unit.
Then I checked the inner wall piece (D21) against the inside of the Italeri rear wall. It was pretty close and a little sanding mated them up nicely. The I Love Kits inner rear wall was slightly tall though. I ended up cutting about 1mm off the bottom so the floor would fit correctly.
Removed strip from D21.
The result, looks pretty good to me.
I also tried out the CMK engine to see how it fits. It needed to be raised up about 1/8", but fits fine. I cut away the resin inner fenders as the kit ones look better and seem to fit better. The shims will not be seen once the inner fenders are added.
This will eventually become an M936 5 ton Wrecker using the Hobby Fan conversion. I will eventually continue it after I finish my CUCV. Iāll start a new post then.
I think it was more a surgery than playing with it. But comes out nicely.
Looking forward to seeing the wrecker build Gino. FYI HobbyLink have produced an M51 conversion set.
Yup, saw that. I already have the MR Modellbua M929 Dump Truck conversion that will be used on an I Love Kits M925A1.
