I am a trained maschinist and think about building this as a stan-alone model with all effects of weathering.
It´s a VDF Boehringer Leit-und Zugspindel Drehbank.

Build a workshop around the lathe may also be challenging. 
For the future, I like to see a milling and a drilling machine.

Very cool. Will be interesting to see what people do with it.
Looks very similar to the old things that my secondary school had in the metal workshop. There were about 4 or 5 of them. Now that I work in education myself, I’m not so sure I would’ve turned loose kids on them with minimal supervision like we were back in the day. But, no one lost a finger or an eye.

If I didn’t already have tghe lathe from CMK I’d be all ov er this. I have their dtill press as well.
I was actually thinking about a drill press for your Zil-13e1 build. It seems odd that the workshop truck wouldn’t have hade at one.
True enough, but a lathe as part of a shop is my plan - a post WWII German Motorrad Werkstatt featuring US, Russian and German motorcycles available in 1/35. With American MP’s investigating the “loss” of one of their bikes.
Maybe a precursor to the shop where Werner gets his work done.
