New USS North Carolina on the way

Very Fire are to release a new tool 1/350 North Carolina, hopefully they get the deck heights correct unlike Trumpeters attempt.

Omg, this is great news!!!

The North Carolina is my most haunted build. I have tried to build the Trumpeter kit 3 times. First effort with basic photoetch was 90% complete and fell of the shelf while dusting ( I was away on deployment). Second effort was on the painting stage when I bumped the hull into the spraybooth corner and fell and cracked (salvaged all the aftermarket and the guns and fittings etc) and the third effort was scutled because I was aboout to mount the model on a seascape and the resin melted the hull in the middle and it warped.

Nikos, I have wanted a NC for so long but when I found out about the deck height issue on the Trumpeter kit I held off. Now just to wait for this kit to hit the shops.

The funny thing is that I have 2 more NC kits with LionRoar superdetail sets and all the leftovers from the previous efforts that provided I source two hulls I can do full builds.

The last time I was near her was Sept 2024.

I did a behind the scenes tour back in 2020. Went from stem to stern; from shaft alley to the rope locker in the bow, then up to the spotting top and sky watch just beneath the radar dish. In these areas it is just as it was left when decommissioned in 1947. From kapok vests and a gallon of paint to reactivation documents. An amazing look into the past

Thank you Andreas, NC has always been my favorite US battle wagon. Wonder what fit the kit reflects as I know her last fit during the war some of her single 20mm were replaced with twins.
