NEWS: 1/35 Trumpeter UH-1Y Venom

Continuing the discussion from Bell UH-1Y Venom June Release | AeroScale:

Competing with Academy, who also recently announced the coming release of a 1/35 UH-1Y, Trumpeter has announced that they will be releasing theirs in June. We shall see whose comes out first and whose is better. It is a good time for modern Huey fans. Now we just need a UH-1D/H to go with them.

Trumpeter is now showing a built-up model, sprues, and decal options for this kit. It includes blade-fold parts and wheels to move it around the deck. Looks like two complete engines too. It looks pretty nice. Hopefully it will be available soon.

CAD of the inner parts too.

Sprues.

Decals and marking options.

Canopy glass and PE.

Comes with canopy masks too.

They messed up the HMLA-167 decals. It’s not HWLA-167. I am sure Dave Roof will have a sheet out to address that.

He already has a 1/48 UH-1Y Decal Set. Hopefully he scales it up to 1/35.

Picked up the kit at the U.S. Nats. Unfortunately, it looks like Trumpeter doesn’t understand that you need two tail rotor pitch pedals for each pilot, not two total (only one each side).

Betting Academy gets it right.

While they should have that detail. I am betting they will sell a ton and most folks won’t know or care.

I’m sure, but it’s still disappointing and not really an excuse. They missed the aft MWS on the first AH-1W release too, even though it’s shown on the box art.

Thie version looks better to me so far. I plan on getting the Academy version when they are available.
