The designer previously showed CAD of the full blade fold kit too, fitted onto the Y model. So if Academy are feeling generous, they have everything they need to include those bits too…

I am still waiting on a good UH-1D in 1/32 or 1/35. I have never seen the Y variant.
You would think with the M113’s, M114’s, M577’s, M48’s, M41’s, Marine amtracks, the wide range of trucks and jeeps, and even riverboats available that the UH-1 D would be an obvious choice.

As I anxiously await this release, I came across an interesting new (or old?) scheme for it.
HMLA-269 “Gunrunners” at New River MCAS, NC did a few in the retro Land Camo Scheme of Black, Green, and Gray to celebrate their 50th anniversary. It looks really good.
They painted some AH-1Zs in the Land Camo Scheme as well.

The first two pics you posted are the Czech AF aircraft that they received recently. It mirrors the scheme their Zulus have as well.

Also, sprue shots confirm that the blade fold option will be included in the new UH-1Y kit. It cost a fair bit in aftermarket to add this to the AH-1Z, so this is very welcome!

Academy is showing the boxart and a built-up model now of their upcoming UH-1Y. It looks really good. It has the blade-fold mechanisms and supports too.
Raised rivets on the fuselage too. Very nice

It is expected to be released soon.

I am forever shocked that any iteration of the UH-1 remains in the US military inventory having started in 1956. I guess the M-1 machine gun and B-52 bomber are older, but still!

so are either the trumpeter or academy kits out yet, do they have release dates?
Trumpeters kit is out, and they sold some at IPMS nationals in the US last week. Some people reported having bought some copies. Feedback suggests (as expected) that they have not done a good job and that Academy’s test shots look better (and will be around 40% cheaper).

@drt786 thanks for that i haven’t seen any on ebay yet, that’s my bench mark for a product being available to purchase.
Think I’ll be waiting for the academy kit, found the ah-1z to be a very nice build and it shares sprues with the venom.
