Apparently, not an April Fool’s joke as it’s slated for June release…not cheap at $118.93 USD, but please do shop around.
(I can’t find that thread post after a search so I’ll just post it here as news).
IT IS A REAL MODEL KIT.

I found one topic/thread but it may not be the one you were thinking about:
@Uncle-Heavy Yep, that’s the thread! Thanks!
I’ll post something there too just as a FYI.
From some guy using Photoshop to a 1/35 styrene model, it’s like the Rule of Cool has completely overruled reality. I mean, I’m gonna get one if I can find it cheap, but it feels weird living in a world where this is coming out and we still don’t have an M88A2 Hercules in styrene.
Not a snipe or a rebuke at you @Ioncray…
Practically all of these model kits are “Made in China” so it’s up to the US Military to approve and permit Chinese 3D CAD sculptors to crawl, measure, and photograph these US AFVs, warships, warplanes, etc. One can send them photographic reference, but that’s often US Military too who have access to the real weapons systems.
I am reminded of previous non-Chinese artists and sculptors who said that they can make almost anything as long as they have the proper and accurate references, photos, measurements, and maybe even the real thing. They said that if you’re willing to spend your own money to purchase and send the data to them, they’ll appreciate it.
Oh, I agree. There are plenty of paper panzers and completely fictional models out there, plus Girls mit Panzers and super deformed egg kits. Most of what I’ve seen have some rational basis like a videogame or a manga. This is just the first time I’ve seen a random Photoshop reach mainstream 1/35 styrene form. And there are certainly some weird company decisions out there; at some point they’ll issue models of a specific Tiger tank just as it arrived in a battle at 1350 hours on May 4th 1944 but before 1430 hours at which time a Spitfire filled it with bullet impacts. That’s the nature of the market. Of course, it’s also my chance to bemoan the continued lack of a styrene Hercules…
I have no interest in “what ifs,” but if I did - A little careful shopping around nets you a Bradley and an MGS for the same price, even after shipping. Plus you have a leftover Stryker hull to do with as you please.
My suspicion is that their April Fools joke from last year (based on that Photoshopped photograph) got so much serious interest that they decided to make the model.
And can’t speak for all of them, but I just looked over on Scalemates to check a few of the “Girls und Panzer” kits. They seem to be legit repops of Platz and Border, per the examples I skimmed.
Not Meng…
What he said . It’s Magic Factory - pls correct the title.
Fixed.
Thanks for the title correction, Gino.
