As if “Snowpiercer” wasn’t bad enough as a movie, someone just had to go one level further (downwards) and turn it into a TV crime-drama soap-opera!
Fans of Three Body Problem may enjoy Three Body. I realize reading sub titles is not for everyone, but it’s how we have rolled in my household for years.
I’m actually enjoying it more than Three Body Problem. The story lines are similar but deviate enough that you don’t feel like you’re watching the same thing over again.
The character development goes much deeper than in Three Body Problem.
Taking many more episodes to cover the same time span, they’re able to fully explain a lot of what’s going on, like in the human computer, Although I must say the black and white flags used in Three Body Problem were more visually stunning.
They did pay homage (possibly unintentionally) to K Dramas, when they had the accidental touching of hands scene that is a staple of K Dramas, and usually appears well into the series, Except in this case it ends horrifically for the girl. That alone should pique your interest.
But one homage that is definitely intentional - a quote sung at the end of each episode, taken from the final death scene in Blade Runner. One of the best in film if you ask me,
What, Rob, what?! “Like tears falling in the rain.”?
Same scene, different quote. You’ll have to watch.
Looks like “Three Body” is now going on the watch list …
I really enjoyed Three Body more than Three Body Problem, mainly because the better character development, and the effects are decent too, and special attention to de CGI versions of the characters in the game, better choice (IMHO) than the Netflix did.
I tried watching Three Body on the first episode and it must have been made years ago as the TV resolution is Standard Definition (SD) and not High Definition (HD) or Ultra High Definition (UHD) or even UHD 4K. Thus, Three Body looks semi blurry and harder to watch compared to NETFLIX’s Three Body Problem in UHD. I had to stop watching SD Three Body to save my eyesight.
I’m not saying that SD Three Body is a bad series, just that without HD or UHD film resolution, I just can’t sit and watch all those SD episodes and read the English Closed Captioning translation.
That’s the nice thing about failing eyesight - I never noticed.
