NKVD Border Guard R-5 Question

i just picked up the AMG Polikarpov R-5 NKVD (USSR Border Troops) kit in 1/72 scale. The painting instructions were cryptic at best, relying on b&w illustrations. Photos of the VVS R-5s showed a natural metal engine compartment with green top and light blue undersurfaces. Were the NKVD R-5s white or silver doped aft of the engine compartment? The instructions are not clear? Bal’shoe Spasiba for any help……

I looked up some Russian sources but couldn’t find a profile for Border Guard R-5.

What I found is a side profile of a R-5 from 1st Air Wing of OGPU-Tashkent. OGPU was the predecessor of NKVD and was incorporated into the later in 1934.
