The variety of colors, materials and textures looks really convincing. This will look great once you populate it.

The money maker
Fest zeit is coming soon ! Stock up on your groceries.
Miniart lady with minor re-posing and a stylish veil added. Bluetacked in place until the base is ready to receive
Very nicely done and the pattern on her top is just excellent!
You’ve got to show us some more pics of the Merc!
Yeah JR , mine was also a fun build , no construction issues at all . i like your choice of two tone colors .
More pics ?
There are so many one liners for that comment, but I will refrain from all of them lol …….
Well up to your usual standard Jerry! I’m really enjoying watching how this develops, it might (just might!) inspire me to finish off my MiniArt buildings and do something with them! I know it’s meant to be “Normal Times”, but in 1935 in Berlin, I think even the most innocuous scene would have some Nazi of some kind in it, SA man or HJ; they were everywhere by then and every block had a “Blockleiter” who wore Nazi uniform. Perhaps a couple of “snap brims” lurking to provide an aura of underlying menace?
Thanks all for keeping up with this one. It has been low and slow going.
Hohenstaufen thanks for the kind comments sir. Actually talking with the neighbors in Germany when I lived there the Nasi presence was not nearly as all pervasive as films and such lead us to think. Of course it existed but not to the extent that everyone belonged to the Party or were all goosestepping all over the place. Specially was early as 1935 That is the impression I got anyway. Plus I just didn’t want to show any of that. I am proud of my almost completely German heritage and would rather not concentrate politically on that very bad 12 year period considering the gigantic contributions the German people have contributed to society over the span of their existence.. But having said all that I wanted to build this scene because I just love the styles on the 1930’s. The clothes, the cars, the buildings and that wonderful art deco feel. And it seems to me the Germans embraced that deco a bit more than anyone else. Plus it makes this project easier for me because of the plethora of model subjects available showing German stuff! I will end this very long statement from me by writing that I hope in some forlorn way that maybe people can realize that not every German was a Nassi and believe it or not the cynical Berliners were not really on board with that whole thing for the most part. Plus remember 1935 and not…1944. Big difference.
Ok well anyway…I hope this doesn’t begin the usual blast fest and virtue signaling.
Thanks all for being so considerate to me concerning my contributions here and I hope it all continues.

Well said JR - that period from around 1928 to 1935-ish was so intense for so many reasons. I’m a big fan of the Bauhaus era and all the various technical/scientific innovations across so many fields during those years. Sometimes I think it would be fascinating to time-travel back then (not sure whether knowing what would happen. or not) but of course it was another story if I’d been Jewish or left-wing or anything other than a radical or invisible conformist.
As you say the prevailing attitude for many ordinary people was to carry on regardless, enjoy the good times and turn a blind eye. Which is pretty much what you’re replicating – no need to read anything else into it, that was the reality and we all know why they were living in a temporary dreamworld – what’s debated to this day is to what extent they knew it or suspected it. I wonder whether we’re living in a different kind of dreamworld today for different reasons.
I too hope you haven’t opened up a can of worms, it’s really unnecessary and pointless. It simply was what it was.
Yep we are constantly bambarded with the WWII melodrama. Every youtube history video or anything else referencing the Germans in that era calls everything Nassi. The Nassi tanks. The Nassi soldiers the Nassi planes. As if everything in Germany was thoroughly on board and even the inanimate objects were political. How can a tank have a political affiliation ? Hahahahaha I know what they are doing and it’s all for clickbate but it does get tiring.
But one cannot even point these obvious things out without being accused of sympathy for that odious cause. The majority of Germans alive today were not around for that odious era but have to listen to this claptrap constantly even after 80 years.
But we will see what happens here. I am pretty much cancelled on FB for who knows why and maybe that will follow me here as well.
