I’ve used a few methods over the years, but I believe in the phrase, “Dance with the one who brung ya.” Hence, the old soldering iron method is my go to.
Yes, I use the iron as well. I use it mostly for junk around the house, such as all three door shelves in our fridge. I tend to press a large staple into the soft plastic like rebar for added strength. It doesn’t look great but it is far cheaper than what the manufacturer wants for replacements. Had no idea the flimsy plastic shelves were so rare they cost half the price of the whole fridge.
I’ve also seen steel wool worked into the mends but I haven’t tried that one.
