I’m surprised they moved the gun over so far - in a Sherman turret, which is narrower, there was plenty of room to have the gun in the middle. And they put the TC and loader on the wrong sides for American practice at the time - they took too much inspiration from German tanks…
Hey Brian as another card-carrying member of the Defenders of The Kings English as she (…he?) is spoked, isn’t that submariner’s order for a crash surfacing? ![]()
Highly likely Tim, highly likely.
I should calm down really; a mere mis-spelt word is nothing compared to the endless “your” masquerading as the contraction “you are”. Now that drives me up the freaking wall - it’s just sooo lazy.
If English isn’t your first language, then all well and good - some slack coming your way, but the rest of you…(!)
However, I am fully aware that my own efforts fall short; sometimes for whatever reason I seem to struggle with spelling, or rather eye to key action, and I never used to; I put it down to a bout of sepsis I endured back in 2015. It was part and parcel of an epidural abscess, and my brain came under ferocious attack, and I’ve never quite felt the same again. Of course, I was lucky to survive, but I always felt that I’d lost that response, that sharpness of thought and process, that mental acuity if you like, that I once had (or rather thought I had!).
Life can be a bitch that’s for sure, but grammatical slothfulness, no no no!
Bear in mind I know some folks round here who only know one language, and yet their English is still not their first language! ![]()
You are right. The BD kit is not the best kit. Which is why, I did, what I did. See above.

I do like this Thomas - it ties in with my all too latent What-If proclivities. Have you given any thought to a colour scheme? I suppose the Brit SCC 15 would be applicable but something a bit different might suit, though I can’t quite think what.
I’m picturing it draped with camo scrim, or maybe decked with that mesh matting? Especially the front, so it can blend with surrounding shrubs in ambush position…
My current plans regarding paint is a worn green/black scheme,.like a vehicle which had taken part in Operation Cobra. Black US stars. Maybe a simple diorama, with a reloading taking place, I think, Miniart has just released a reloading US crew?
Oh sorry Thomas; I’ve obviously confused myself - I thought this was a Brit piece of kit. That would look just fine, especially as any reloading can emphasise the type of gun fitted.
To be fair, both variants are shown near the start of the thread. Also, it could be said that the British would have operated some in the U.S. format, just as not all M10s were converted to Achilles standard…
Cheers,
M

I intend to portray a US vehicle, but it is right, BD also has another conversion kit, which is intended to portray a “British” vehicle. However, it could be used for other purposes as well, apart from the fact, that it has a very distinct “British” appearance, regarding ie. loaders and commanders hatches and the engine deck.
As mentioned before, I am very impressed by Bryan Kruegers “What If” Sherman models
