Using an old and already familiar scenario to take some more photos with DAK equipment and figures. Here we used the vehicles Panzer II Ausf. B/C from DML and the Stöwer from ICM. Figures from Alpine, DML, MiniArt, Tristar and also the seated tanker (I don’t remember the brand). I still need to buy some Arab figures to fill the gap in food vendors.
Excellent work in every direction and well staged too. Once you’ve got some locals in place I’d really like to see it in blazing sunshine – in colour and b & w those photos would be hard to pick from the real thing.
Not much I can add to all of the comments previously posted. Awesome diorama, great figures and good looking vehicles. Can’t wait until you get some locals in the scene!
BTW, How big is the dio’s base?
Thanks for sharing this labor of love !
Hi, Tim! While we couldn’t find more suitable figures to fill this gap, we improvised with something found in the leftover boxes. An Italian “carrista” (tanker) to negotiate with the local seller, a figure from the old Heller.
Well done, colleagues! Following the forum’s determination not to post too many individual messages, I would like to thank everyone for their comments and words of encouragement. I would also like to respond to Tom (Ivanhoe6) about the dimensions of the dio’s base. 16.5"x12.5" or 42cmx32cm. Thank you very much.
Incredible atmosphere in this build—everything from the dusty tones to the layout tells a story without needing words.**
The placement of the figures and the slight angle of the vehicle really make it feel like a snapshot from a moment in time. How did you approach the groundwork? The texture and subtle color variation are spot on for the dessert.
Would love to hear more about how you planned the scene composition—it’s very cinematic!
That’s a very cool sketch, I detect some serious fine art and/or or graphic art training there – am I right? If so, maybe you can help me devise a diorama based on Escher’s impossible staircase…
Hi Tim! I really appreciate your comment, but I have to say that my professional training is a bit far from these artistic skills. This is just a way of planning or anticipating what I would like to do. Also, this staircase is too much for my two poor active neurons and also for my limited skills. But I wish you good luck in your endeavor. Thanks!
