One down , one to go .... part 2

all 6 horses are done. They used mostly horse drawn arty right till 1945 in fact.
Horses can be a pain to make look half way decent. Maybe why few attempt them ? I seem to be a glutton for punishment though.

Great update and the groundwork additions with how dynamic it looks is superb. The skin tones on the black girl look really nice as well …. very natural.

Thanks Johnny appreciate the comments. I used three tones on Aunt Ester , a base of nutmeg , then added coffee bean and washed with burnt umber , all craft store acrylics .

I took a palette cleansing break by doing a small vignette. Then back to the horsies.

The Jersey Shore from Sandy Hook all the way down to Cape May has its fair share of gawdy tourist traps . This is no exception . These are snapshots in time , no rhyme , no reason . Because it’s a snapshot in time , the story is what you see . No one knows what happened a second before the photo was taken and no one knows what happens a second after . A group of survivors existing in a broken world , the hear and now and no one knowing what will happen next . Post apocalypse , so there is no story to be told by the build other than you wouldn’t want to be there . This arch will have a bit of boardwalk that leads to a raised outdoor pavillion Tiki bar .

Love what you have crafted here Glenn- that forgotten, careworn look of a place forgotten is authentic. Even the way the leaves and rubbish gather in a corner and under the broken gate. But it is not simply a dumping ground for odds bits of previous lives and times- the interesting archway and the superbly realised statues gives the piece both a sense of history and tells of its former purpose.

Tremendous work and story telling. I was going to ask about where to get 1/35 tv’s but then I saw that katana and now thats become a must have. Does the light work or is it just decoration? If it works and you got a flicker to it then thats next level.

Thanks Rocky . no the light doesn’t work , justa prop . I buy from three retailers , BNAmodels.com , widest variety , prices good overall , tarif 20% , use Australian post - fair price .

Scalehobbiest.com , outta New England , good prices , limited variety , USPS , ok service .

Andyshobbyheaduarters.com , outta Mid West , pretty much the same as scalehobbiest

The tv is from Eureka models , Evolution miniatures also has an old school tv at about ten bucks .

BNAmodels has tv’s , computers , cash registers , old school radiators , laptops , excellent selection of non military dio stuff .

I buy model kits [ vehicles , boats , planes , larger items ] mostly from Andys and scalehobbiest , speciallty/hard to find stuff , BNA .

Crazy fantastic imagination here, let alone brilliant construction. Oh & the painting’s not bad either. Whatever you’re on, send me a case. And you’re on the shortlist to receive an Honour for doing wonders for Australia’s export industry, congrats! :+1: :trophy:

Gonna put a pool and a hot tub out on the pier/pavilion with the Tiki bar . Just don’t know if I’ll use the high dive or the smaller board . The pool looks a little too small for the high dive but I’m leaning on the high dive .

A little more progress ……… The pool will be flush with the floor of the Tiki bar/pavilion .

Thanks Johnny , thanks Ryan , thanks Dave !!! Ryan , I took a ref photo of some pool tile , resized it and printed it on regular ole copy paper and glued it on the sides . My favorite part , deconstruction of the construction ………………. and , no I don’t know why the survivors decided to rebuild a boat engine in the deep end of a swimming pool ……….. those crazy kids .
