Yep,you hit the nail on the head buddy!
J
Yeah man the āsenior momentsā are getting more frequent.
J
It is time to āre-loadā for the New Year
Dragon fig from the āEnd of the War in Austriaā set with modified pose, Hornet head and uniform changed from 2 pocket 1944 blouse to erbsenmuster. I showed his canteen cup missing for once.
When he is sitting correctly on the base his rifle will not be touching the dirt, never fear.
J
They must have run out of fitting helmets⦠
golikehell, donāt forget these are kids from HJ. Personally I like the fact Jerry has made this one look like the helmets a bit on the large size. I think there were different sizes, but Iām not sure if this was the shell, liner or both? Also good call on the missing cup Jerry. Since these were made of plastic in the later issues, not alloy as the originals, they frequently split or got broken.
Of course I am aware of that, and I donāt say I donāt like it⦠It just somehow reminds me of the oversized WW1 helmetsā¦
Nice figure Jerry. Yes, if that rifle touches the ground ā¦thatās 20 push ups lol!
Hi Jerry,
Great looking figure, love the action of reloading his rifle, very nice touch,
.
Cheers,

Yes,Hohenstaufen and Golikell,
The helmet was deliberately chosen for being slightly large as it is in fact, as pointed out, a way to try to show the youth of the kids in HJ. I have been doing this for a while now.
Thanks for the kind words,
J
Only 20 ?? LoL
I tried to get the rifle as far back as possible but it wasnāt working and this is what I ended up with. But when he is glued to a base it will clear the ground OK.
Thanks for the comment!
J
Thanks man! Trying to avoid the TV show āendless magazineā kinda thing.
We used to train in the Infantry on live fire ranges āsustained fireā. This is when half the squad would change magazines whilst the rest kept up the covering fire, then, switch. You donāt wanna all run out of ammo at the same time!
J
Well Jerry its been a while. I see you are still making the rest of us cry into our liquid cement! That latest figure is a masterclass in adapting plastic- its dynamic yet also dramatic but it has all the features and equipment considered and laid out with real attention to detail.
Nice to see Mr. Roof back again too!
Happy New Year to all of you, old friends and new.
Great to see you here again as well buddy!
Happy New Year to you and yours as well!
J
Yep another one thatāll start breathing when you paint him, excellent. Looking at the last photo all youād need to do is plant his right foot square on the ground & that might just lift the muzzle off the ground?
Thanks man and yes, that is what will happen. You put it way more logically than I did when I tried to explain it.
J
About a half of the figs I did this year. Plus a few tanks and some scenery. I thought I was slacking this year a bit but I suppose I did OK ?
Hi Jerry, the last photo is something nice - on many levels - the ground plane, the folks in the foreground, and the real action at the weapon. Regarding the previous comment, about the volume of work. Thatās sort of an interesting point. The quality of your work is always so high and complex, the fact that you have completed so many figures (and tanks) this year is remarkable!
Cheers and happy new year!
Nick
I really like that pic- it looks like a real āin actionā photo of a gun crew on a misty morning or evening. Its the attention to detail in the composition and poses of the figures that lend it that āalmost realā quality- not to mention getting the camera focus just right.
The picture is really great, but the hole for the gun is a bit small? Since the 25 pounder could rotate quickly due to itās platform, you very much limited the traverse by the size of the hole?
