Operation "Epsom" details

Simply incredible as usual Jerry

Thanks buddy! Glad you liked it,

Hi Jerry,

Not sure what I can add to the above plaudits that hasn’t already been said, other than I find your work truly awesome, and also inspiring…in scary kind of way, :slightly_smiling_face:.

The Cromwell commander is an excellent example of model-mime, i.e. a static conversation in time that speaks volumes, :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:.

Cheers,,

Thanks as always for the kind remarks buddy and continued support. Not only through words of encouragement but also with very useful research.
I think most of the time I think of the captions and story I wanna tell and then build the stuff to support that. Sometimes it goes in reverse though.

My meager attempt to assuage my overall dissatisfaction with something wrong with each of the above. Dunno if my efforts were worth it. I report…you decide.

It is worthwhile you give a neglected piece of kit some attention, to quote Gnaeus Domitius Corbulo, “you defeat the enemy with an entrenching tool (dolabra)”.

Hi Jerry,

I think you’ve done a grand job, but then I’d expect nothing less with your attention to detail, closely followed by the Tamiya version, :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:.

Will you be able to make copies of yours, or will you need to scratch build one each time you need to include it with a figure?

Not sure if the link below is of interest?

Cheers,,

I have the materials left over from my resin casting biz but I cannot bring myself to smell that resin even one more time!
So I may have to be satisfied with using an existing version. I find the Tamiya version to have a too big (thick) helve and it looks out of scale with the case. I think the Dragon one has the correct proportions of all components but is soft on detail. All the versions are also the MKII which has the bayonet lug. I understand the MKI was the most common in Normandy.
So I may just start using the Dragon version but replace the lug end with a straight earlier version end. Almost ZERO folks will ever even notice anyway. Heheheh
Anyhow, thanks as always for checking in ,your welcomed help and your interest in my humble efforts,
J

I cleaned up my example a bit. It could be a bit cleaner still, but you get the idea. I painted both the Tamiya version and mine to better show the difference. I think Tamiya has nice detail but it’s not accurate in many ways. Mine has the better proportions and correct helve placement and straps. I may be tempted still to make a mold.

Really like the angle you’ve taken this one from- its gives a fantastic view of the figure and that observant yet tense gaze. Very natural pose you’ve given him too.

Hi Jerry. I’ve had a bit of a battle trying to login in so couldn’t comment for ages but have still been following. I love how its not so much a dio but a series of beautifully detailed vignettes. Ive lost a bit of 1/35 mojo, preferring painting large scale stuff but when I see your work I always get that itch to try and tell a story in scale. Thanks for keeping us updated.

Amazing work there! The fig and setting are so real it looks like a photo. Outstanding Jerry!

Love it Jerry - just love it, especially the apprehensive expression. Of course his No 2 wouldn’t be too far away - or has he been sniped (which might explain the expression)?

Thanks for your usual observant and very gratifying comment buddy! I always look forward to thouse!

Thanks man and nice to see you again. I had been wondering where you were.
These are almost pics of WIP and finished parts of future episodes. They kinda get combined together at some point but, yes, no longer really a dio in the classic sense. Too large now for that to be possible.
On a sad note, a friend on the net has just had to break up 2 of his very large dios because of a space issue in the new digs. So… 2 of my all time favorite small scale dios are biting the dust.

Thanks buddy. Very kind comments!

This pic was just a quick happy snap to show the newly minted jock. He fits into a larger story later.
Sorry,couldn’t resist a teaser pic.
