Anyone be up for a P47 or Corsair campaign? I have some ideas for both.

World war II is a bit out of scope for me but there must be people interested???

I’m on the downhill leg of building a P-47 right now, but I haven’t built a F4U in many years and would love to have an excuse for one more. But I’m hip deep in GBs at the moment and likely be until the end of this year…

Have a couple of each in the stash.
Would probably be inclined towards a Corsair as I’ve been itching to do Revell’s Royal Navy boxing for ages.

May be a radial engine or a Pratt and Whitney R-2800 campaign? It would include both aircraft.

That’s a cool idea! Opens it up to several possibilities. If you want it to be more narrow, I’d lean towards the F4U.

ok we can do a corsair campaign. i was thinking of bent wing ace where you build an ace’s bird.
what do we need 10 for a campaign? lets see what we get.

I like F4U
I like the idea of a theme around the campaign. I would have to check to see if any FAA pilots made ace in the Corsair.
What I had in mind though was to do ‘Hammy’ Greys Corsair with decals salvaged from the last boxing of the Airfix kit. Revell’s sole decal scheme was fairly uninspiring.
I can change as I have a couple of them in the stash.
There have been P-47 campaigns in the past but I don’t remember a F4U campaign, opening it up to P&W R-2800 engined aircraft would offer lots of more interest, T-bolt, Corsair, Hellcat, Tigercat, Bearcat, Blackwidow, Marauder, Invader to name a few. I’d be interested but maybe in the new year as I’m still without a bench to model on and using a coffee table for light modelling.

I would like to keep this one as the corsair for now. there wasn’t any interest in seemed in the p47 and i don’t know how far back the last p 47 campaign was but i do not recall there ever being a corsair build. maybe in the future we could do P&W campaign. i got two good possible names for it, whistling death or bent wing bird

I think if you want people to see it and agree to join up, you need to propose it in the Campaigns & Group Builds Staging Area. You don’t need a particular number anymore.

I have a Tamiya Corsair but I also have an old Revell kit with a resin cockpit and British markings.
I also have a Hasegawa P-47D.
Would this start say, January or later?

i was thinking it could be december but i was thinking it be a 6 month campaign. if it is a matter of too many people need to finish up other campaigns then it could be. i’m not looking to do a year long one so there is room for more campaigns for next year.

i’m new to all this. didn’t know what the process is ssgtoms has offered to co sponsor and help. i definitely will need help with a badge design as i don’t like the idea of not getting recognition for completing a campaign. i will post it in staging.
