Paint for the Leopard 1

Then the Tamiya X-20A thinner isn’t going to work. Don’t try it with AK Real Colors - it will only ruin your bottle of paint. See if you can get a small bottle of Tamiya lacquer thinner or better yet Mr. Color Leveling Thinner. Don’t use hardware store lacquer thinner - it’s too hot for the plastic and your brush will drag and stick to the surface.
If you can’t get either of those two thinners, just use the paint straight out of the bottle. You can still get a good finish.
Keep the Tamiya X-20A for Tamiya paints.

AK Real Colors only with Ak Real Thinner

I only used the AK Thinner once with AK Real Colors, then went back to Mr Color Leveling Thinner. The Leveling thinner sprays better and provides a smoother finish.

Thanks Matt, I’ll see what I can do. Maybe next time when I buy paints I will get some MCLT.

Very late in the discussion, but FWIW:
In 1966, a fellow Bundeswehr conscript “liberated” a half-empty rattle can of the Olive Green we used on our 1:1 M41 tanks and gave it to me. Obviously, my modeling and painting skills were in their very early stages, so no priming etc. - please take these pics as color refences only! What a difference the base color would make can be seen at the tip of the Lacrosse missile where I had replaced the kit’s white nose cone with one made from olive green sprue. And I have absolutely no idea what RAL number the stuff might’ve had. (Both kits are by Revell, claiming to be 1/40 scale.)

Note: the definite brownish hue ist not only in the pictures, but on the models, too.
