Paint mixer

Does anyone have a paint mixer like this?

and most importantly: does it work?

I saw a publicity for such thing on Youtube and I found possibly the same tool from various brands with very different prices ranging from €150 to €75.

I have a similar one, much cheaper from Aliexpress, and works very good. Specially if you drop a steel bearing, after less than one minute the paint is nicely mixed.

Similar but mini-vortex mixer here…

…it outstanding and works like a charm. Wish I had purchased it years ago. Hold bottle for ~30 seconds against pad and its good to go. Might take a minute if it’s settled out for years.

My 45 to 50 year old tin of Humbrol Panzer Grey, last used in the early 1990’s had full separated and settled. It needed a good stirring first then ~2 minutes or so on the Vortex.

I have one and it works exceptionally. If you have half a bottle of paint, you can visually see the mixing process instantly. I paid about $100.00 (US). And wouldn’t hesitate in saying how well it works!

I have the exact unit shown in your photo and it is excellent. Works for many sizes of paint containers.

I have one as well. After two of the micro mark mixers broke in less than one year, I have found the vortex mixer reliable, durable and easy to use. Mine was under $50 ( US ).

Hi
My mate at TYRELL MODELS sells it for £45. Quiet and HIGHLY effective. Various speeds and can take rattle cans too.

Here we go again talking about TOOLS. I am completely spineless when it comes to resisting a new tool. so…

it’s in the mail. We have to put some filter on this forum that prohibits the word TOOL.

I get me some “energetic” music (example), put it on the speakers,
grab the paint bottle/tin and start digging the rhythm …

If you have enough speaker, just tape the bottle to the cone. Just play Queens Another One Bites the Dust at volume,

Or, the Commodores “I Feel Sanctified”. If you can’t move to that song I don’t know what can……

OK, I have one and I am using it.

In short: it works like a charm and even Humbrol that was in my stash for many years without any use (read stirring up) can be mixed again.

The version that I bought has two shortcomings:

  • It switches of after a relatively short time and often this time is not long enough forcing you to switch of the stirrer and switch it on for a second session
  • after a while, and wihtout using it, the stirrer switches itself completely of and you need to remove and re-attach the electricity supply to start it up again. This is very annoying

but the paint gets stirred better than ever, so overall positive
