Siince there are several members who served in Vietnam. Can anyone tll me how the LARC-V
was painted, I think its a very light gray. I only found b/w pics of the Bundeswehr vehicle in question.

Problem solved. I found a Youtube video that shows the color on a surplus vehicle.

Can you maybe post a link? Thanks in advance!

Well, just for the record, Brit ones were grey:

I say plural, but there may only have been one. Not of course, a LARC-V, but as I say, for the record. I suspect that not many Brits even know that we had at least one (along with an LVTP 5).

The LARC-LX or BARC in styrene and 1/35 scale would be mega-cool

Krauss-Maffei Wegmann developed their own amphibious carrier.

A kind of a Pushme-Pullyou?

@HermannB Wow, now I want one of those Kruss-Maffei Wegmann carriers just because it looks so odd.

@BootsDMS OK now you have me intrigued, a British LVTP-5, are we talking about the one available from AFV Club? If so I need more info.

@British Bulldog, it´s a one of a kind prototype that can probably only be seen at KMW factory storage in Munich.

One and the same vehicle Luciano; I have one in the stash just awaiting my attention, with a Brit crew standing by!

See here for starters

Thanks Brian, Interesting I may have to get one now, however the website you linked too looks like its been closed. I had been thinking about one to go with my 'nam builds but a British one now that will be different.

I note the second site is still running; you’ll have to trawl through th eindividuals named to get to the pics; Henry Kubinsky’s efforts contian the LVTP pics.

I have a few others as well; this one is my favourite:

showing Royal Marines in camouflaged windproofs and immaculate '37 Pat webbing. Note also the BARV in the background.

Thanks again Brian, found the second link and love the warning signs on one of the posts.

Yep a BARV I know of a conversion for an AFV Club Cent kit, it’s on my wish list.

Plenty of the same on the website above, though you’ll have to hunt around for them; mainly showing them in use in Malaya I think - a long time since I dug into it all. Now, where did I stash that rare Italeri kit?

None of which assists with Hermann’s original query of course! Apologies Hermann for the massive thread hijack.

No problem Brian!

Wow I did not know the British used the LVTP s. That would be a stunning model in the gray color!
I have one of those in the stash but might have to get another to do the Brit version.

Well, just to reiterate - I think there was only one, and that must have been on trial. As mentioned in one of the links (above) I have seen an image of one amidst another load of amphibians en route to Suez (1956) but I have been unable to find the image. If I could compare registration numbers that would prove whether we had just the one, or possibly two!

My plan is to do one in a very pale grey, Brit markings and to populate it with 2 x crew in tank oversuits, and a singleton RM figure in camouflaged windproofs as per the recent pic I posted.

A few more pics to whet the appetite; Luciano take note(!) Apparently, us Brits could ram in 44 x RM Commandos:
