Panther G #125 Ardennes Camo

Is the panther 202 and 215 both yours and the same colors?1

Hey Jantztim !

Yes I built and sprayed both.
Well they are the same base color mixed from TAMIYA acrylics of which I mix a larger quantity of each.
But then which each model I “modified” them a bit individually according to the input I have on the specific vehicle. The GREEN & BROWN on 215 is a little lighter in tone. The YELLOW is the same of both.
I actually never use identical colors on any of my kits … sometimes only visible if they are lined up next to each other … except for NATO-Black.

Cheers

thanks I understand, ofcourse it’s mixed haha,
but i thought if you could give me the base numbers for the colors, from there i can figure it out myself,
and make my own mix, would be great, love the patterns

Did some research and some trips to the various Ardenne museums … looks like the majority of new Panther initially had all their side-skirts prior the offensive. There is just one photo of 215 with the front right skirt visible during the first days of action.
So I decided to add the skirts … just starting with the weathering process …
The camo scheme is fiction interpretation of existing / similar ones of that period.

There was another Panther in the same unit (SS-Pz.Rgt.1 2nd Companie) with the same camo, Panther 223 which was abandoned at Stoumont train station
*I know it’s been some years past from the question but might still help
Awesome build by the way :+1:

I’m actually tempted to build the Panther 202 after seeing yours
Especially with Dragon 6602 re-issued with Ardennes decals

Hey Bahram

There were actually quite a few Panthers with the Dots or Disks pattern.
With Dots:
… from the 1.SS # 101, 202, 215, 223
… from the 2.SS # 214 (Grandmenil) … most likely a few more from DB production

Panzer-Lehr-Div. :
… II./Pz.Reg.130 # 701 in Marnach (very similar pattern as 223)
… I./Pz.Reg.130 # 321 (showed up in Hungary Dec.44)

With Disks:
… from the 1.SS # 114, 124, 131, 225,

The 12.SS apparently not that I know of …

The were a lot of both with the 111 Pz.Brig. in Lorraine Sept. 1944 most all with Zimmerit.

But I am sure some folks here can supply some more info regarding the numbering / unit.

Cheers
Christopher

Minor progress adding some foliage from RT-Diorama 3D pine branches.
Really good, very realistic product :+1:
I don’t intend to completely cover the model … more like on the move after pulling out of a concealed assembly area in the very early few days of the offensive.
