Were interpreters used by US forces in ODS ?
Great concept. The Marines with the POWs should be wearing British DPM chemical suits. All assault personnel wore chemical suits as a precaution and there were not enough U.S. chemical suits to go around so they borrowed from the British. Not sure when they stripped the suits and returned to regular BDUs but I believe it was after cessation of hostilities.

Yes. My friend was a Marine Lt. in Desert Storm and had a terp riding in his vehicle during the drive into Kuwait. At least according to one of his war stories that he told long ago. And he is a guy who is prone to understatement on most things. Very calm and low key.

I don’t think the usage was fleet wide so you could have mix or only US issue mopp suits. I don’t think there is a figure that depicts a US servicemen wearing British NBC gear. That would be an interesting figure.
I was there, frontline, attached to USMC 2nd LAI as an infantry scout. We were issued Brit chem suits right before the breach. I have pics of me wearing it on the first day of the ground war.

If it helps, I walked that walk and I think did it right. My unit 2nd Light Armored Infantry took MANY prisoners, an entire weapons company in one morning alone. Once they surrendered, most of us treated them very well. Food,water,medical attention, and respect for a fellow human being in horrible circumstances.We knew they didn’t want it anymore than we did. It wasn’t personal.

I was issued a Brit CPOG right before the ground war, and wore it during.In DML kit #3015, the saw gunner looks a little CPOG… I think the look could could be kit-bashed with swapping “winter limbs” with no gloves and un-bloused boots onto a non-winter torso with the correct US PASGT body armor.

Yes. Although not assigned as an interperter, I had some Arabic knowledge, and it fell to me. It proved useful, but understanding Gulf Arabic was a challenge, very slangy with lots of pidgin.

Glad to see Desert Storm getting some attention. How about some truck guys getting in, or just cinching chains, taking a smoke?
I could a set or two like that.
