Personal Mission - Russian Tanks

I scored the same Miniart T-55.

I cracked the box, saw how packed with parts it was, got scared and haven’t touched it since!!

Yours looks marvelous!

Base layer of paint is down. Now just for some detail work and some washes and I will call it down.

I do have a question though. What color should the inside of the engine grill hatches be? Plain brown, Plain green? Or would they have been kept open as they sprayed the vehicle and the camo pattern get carried over onto the inside of the hatches?

I woulld go with green.

The camo paint looks real good!

I’d also say to go with the green on the inside of the hatches. More than likely the hatches were close when the camo pattern was applied. But there is a small chance that the opposite is true depending upon locale, such as in a hot weather climate. In that case, the outer surface would likely remain green. Both sides being pattern painted is most unlikely.

Wow! That camo looks awesome

And with 4 days left in December I am calling this personal mission completed with 5 vehicles built. Thank you so much to everyone who followed along and commented. It was much appreciated and a great motivation.

Last vehicle is completed. Mini Art t-55LD painted up in Rhodesian colours for Operation Onyx (cancelled).

And a last glamour shot of all 5 vehicles which I completed in the last 3 months.

Tamiya JS-3

Those are some very nice looking tanks! And 5 of them in 3 months, some building! My favorite is that last one, love those colors, was Rhodesian? Strange to think that Rhodesia used Soviet tanks, would have expected them to be more Western orientated… learned something here, thanks!

That’s a beauty of a collection! Don’t stop now, keep going!

Tidy little collection there Rory - very nice indeed. Sorry I wasn’t able to help further with the Rhodesian one.

Here is a good history of the vehicles and why they were used.

I still have 2 more vehicles in the stash. A T-72A and a T-90 which I will get to at some point. For now though I am going to focus on some non-russian stuff and also finish up the ships languishing in my shipyard
