Even before my vision began declining, I bought devices to aid, magnify, and enhance my vision. I probably bought as many as ten over the years. I just discovered and ordered super powerful reading glasses, 5.0 and 6.0. What an improvement. They do not get in the way as some of the big headgear. I don’t have to move my head or what I’m working on to where a device is. It feels natural to use them and it feels like a bit of rejuvenation. I recommend a pair.
Yep, I have a set of 2.5’s. They also change the distance you are from your work. I like 10 to 12 inches.
I have pairs that are 1.25 for computer and reading work. When it comes to modeling, I switch to 3.25.
I’m going to launch a new business training guide dogs for modellers!

Double stacking reading glasses works but 5.0 or 6.0 all in one sounds sweet
Absolutely! I tried the Optivisor and suffered claustrophobia. I settled on magnifying reading glasses as the ultimate solution about 20 years ago. I have +2 to +6 and just switch as I need to. Lightweight, you can look over them to find your tools, read directions, and get your coffee. Best of all worlds.
If you already wear glasses, you might want to look at clip-on reading glasses, like the “Magna Flip” or “Carson Clip and Flip” brands among others; they’re fairly cheap, can be flipped up out of the way when you don’t immediately need them, and usually cover the entire area of your regular lenses; I’ve used them for many years working as a programmer – bifocals have the close vision down at the bottom, where the computer screen is at the middle to upper part of my vision, and the clip-ons are a lot less expensive than having a separate pair of glasses just for working at the computer.
Have ordered a pair of the Carson 1.5 after experimenting with two pairs of readers and finding a very similar magnification to my rather expensive daylight company magnifier. Will see how it goes with the 1.5 and then maybe purchase the 1.75 and 2.0…
Thanks for a very useful subject @2Far2Go and the heads up on the Carson’s @srmalloy .
