Practice Weathering Part II

Working on a 2nd Lignum Forest Products car…on right top pic
This one I wanted to be more faded and dirtier than the first…

I tried something a bit different this time…
After the fade coat, I mixed some Tamiya Orange, Linoleum, Red and White and did some spot spray over the doors and roof…
Still have to apply oils and Tamiya grime mix

Will see if it makes a difference when all is said and done…

Masterful! How did you fade the lettering? Is that the Tamiya?

That is, visually, such a cool car! And your weathering does nothing but improve that feast for the eyes.

Dave, your work is inspirational. I’m going down into the basement and try this.

Thanks…
The original fade coat is Tamiya X20-A and Flat White…
The lettering gets taken down a quite bit by the oil wash…and the Tamiya grime mix
As well in the long run there are multiple clear flat coats Krylon, Rustoleum and Tamiya…wherever is handy
The manufacture date painted on the side of the car is 1972…it feels that old…

I am having fun doing these…I have a bunch of stalled armour kits that I just can’t get back into because of these freight cars…they are instant gratification…
