Proper green for Pt-76

The latter, together with the T-34/85, T-54, IS-3 and ISU-152 are solid choices if you aim for a Soviet vehicle.
AFAIK, the ASU-57 wasn’t deployed in '56. The PT-76 was, but only a handful of them.

Gregory et All,

I asked help from the Hungarian Modeler Forum and got some really great answers. Please find them here translated:

Tanks: PT-76; T-34/85; IS-3 (or JS-3 if you like); some T-44 and many T-54. Self-propelled guns were: SU-76M; ISU-152 and ISU-152K (or JSU-152 if you like).

Two photos to justify the ISU-152K variant in Budapest:

I have found the original link to the collection where this second photo was copied. It is 46 pages of the 1956 uprising events.

http://1956.osaarchivum.org/items/browse?collection=7

Also there is a book in Hungarian language about the events, armies and uprising forces, m,ilitary tactics and the (most important but still a good) list of weapons used by any of the three armed forces.

This is a short FB look into the book:

I think this shall give you lots of interesting ideas and references. Good luck browsing and happy modeling!

@Agriamodeling thank you once again, i love all the help you’re giving me. I may have a few ideas for a diorama build later this year!

Nice -how do you mask such a straight white line over such a complex surface?

@MusicOn so for masking i use regular painters tape. I studied the paint instructions and realized that they didn’t necessarily jive with the actual model, I’m not sure if that’s a common case with early trumpeter kits or not, so i came to a middle ground that i believed made sense and just taped off a decent size stripe. The stripe size was dictated by the drivers hatches and i masked it off without the turret on. For the turret i masked it off while trying my best to follow the masking pattern i used for the top of the PT-76. I’ll be honest the stripes don’t really line up to well, the turret stripe is a bit wider then the stripe on the hull. I hope this makes sense, but the quick brief is i found something, ie the hatch that i could dictate the width of the stripe and then used that as my left and right limits while going up and down the haul.

I hope this helps and makes sense if not let me know.
