Question about Australian M1A2 SEP v3

Ahhh, you may be right, I’m gonna dig around and look at pics

I’m guessing you’re referring to our tri-colour Cam (I still call it AusCam)? The official colour is 30219. Depending on the vehicle & location (read RAEME shop), it can appear to have a pinkish tone to it or look more like CARC Sand

@18bravo - the tan in the Australian scheme is FS30219, the same tan colour as found on USAF fighters and bombers in the Vietnam war.

@Ted_Dannemiller - that pattern, which is one of two patterns applied to the Australian M1A1 fleet, is different to what is applied to the Australian SEP v3s.

Here’s a pic of the same area of a US SEP v3 that I took in April this year at Fort Moore (understand the name change, don’t care, tbh).

It might also be the power supply for the Rome Plow fixture. The older hulls required the driver’s hatch be open to allow running the motors on the plow.

I didn’t know the sterns for the SEP v3 differed. Thanks!

If you mean the TWMP I believe it was initially a cable directly from the slave receptacle behind the drivers seat, then from an adaptor mounted in one of the drivers periscopes, to finally the cover to the left of the hatch. I don’t think it was ever provided with a protective cover, though.

I’ll be on Fort Moore in a few weeks, at the Armor & Cavalry Collection. We now have one of all the major variants, and I’ll ask about and take pics.

We have a long weekend this weekend so my plan is to make a start on my Aussie v3. Pretty sure I saw it in a post recently but unable to locate said post, that RFM 's take on the drive sprocket leaves a bit to be desired. Is this true? If so, does the T-Rex drive sprocket for the Dragon kit fit?

I think I took a better pic than this of the junction box adjacent the driver’s hole the other week, but I’m not sure.

Standby.

Disregard

Found the post in the 1:1 forum. I mis-read the info there & thought the RFM sprocket was at issue, rather than Voiio’s attempt

Hey guys
Started on this bad boy today.
Trying to put the drive sprockets together. Instructions ask you to glue the outer tooth ring to one half of the hub. Trouble is…this tooth ring sits perfectly onto the moulded scallops on the hub one way only - with the ‘holes’ present on the tooth ring on the inside. I’ve checked photos & these holes obviously live on the outside.

Anyone who has built this kit with some ideas?

I had to file the outer ring with a round file to get it to fit although it didn’t take a lot.

WRT the smoke grenade launchers on the turret, does anyone make the actual grenades to place into the launcher or for that matter, an entire replacement launcher with the grenades fitted?

Appreciate these may well be role equipment but have always been curious about this, given every M1 kit I have is the same. My U.S. M1’s (when I finish them ) will be in-theatre tanks & it kind of makes sense to actually have grenades in the launchers

Dragon M1s had two types of grenades in their kits, iirc.

I’m drawing up the SEP v3 cam scheme atm, which may be of use.

Still a wip.
