I just found a Kitty Hawk Super Etendard on the really cheap side in one of the shows. I read all the reviews and builds I could find on it, which were mostly built for SuE versions. Considering all of the 1000-paper-cut problems with the Kitty Hawk one, I will definitely try to find the Kinetic Super Etendard for my more serious Argentinian Super Etendard builds. In the meantime, I wanted to build this one as a Standard 5 SEM from the later/last part of its life in Afghanistan or Syria (the 2007 Flotille 17F version from the kit, if I cannot find better decals) and had a few quick questions:
- Kitty Hawk seems to only provide the instrument panel for the SEM and not the SuE in the kit, comparing the part with the cockpit photos and even the Kinetic instructions. But, is the rest of the cockpit OK for Standard 5, especially the ejection seat?
- Is what Kitty Hawk calling “L-L” the Damocles targeting pod that was the main difference with the Standard 5s (parts C31, C32, C47)? It definitely looks like the one from L’Arsenal. And is the pylon in the kit still correct for a Damocles (also, why did they call these K-K or L-L and not their real names in their instructions?).
- Are all of the necessary antennas and differences included in the Kitty Hawk kit for the Standard 5 and is there a better way to figure out which part goes where - the Kitty Hawk instructions are terrible for the differences, and even the Kinetic instructions were a bit vague sometimes?
- I have not been super lucky with Google on Super Etendard photos from Afghanistan or Syria, apart from a couple videos. Are there any online sources or books I should pick up to see typical armament loads etc.?
Thanks all
Deniz
