One of my passion projects that I’ve always wanted to do since grade school. It is from Shanghai Dragon, build straight out of the box, with it’s decent enough detailing and quality. I lost few pieces from moving houses.
The unfinished Vietcong figure is just for scaling. From a lot of the reference pictures I found, the markings are quite minimal and only few essentials. I might add a camo tarp to go over the missile later and hopefully make a few crew figures somehow.
So thats what the beast of a kit looks like all built I got one in my stash but no clue where to put it if I build it. Yours looks great solid work 
Thank you. It was quite a challenging build, a lot of cursing, but I am happy with how it turned out. I need to figure out the wires and tubes situation for the missile later.
I tried to build one when I was 19 and in the Army. Found the plastic suspension to be too brittle and broke a few pieces during building. I didn’t have as much patience as I do now, so the kit ended on the dumpster next to the barracks.
to say i was pissed about it is an understatement. I decided to stick with Tamiya models instead.
I understand how that feels. If I could go back in time, I would kick my younger self in the rear for screwing up a lot of the kits we had back then. I’m also thankful that I decided to build this scud launcher now that I am a lot older and (maybe) more patient. My younger self would just ruin the whole thing.
Similar sentiments here , I couldn’t have afforded it when it was first released but bought it second hand about 15 years ago. Built with the interior painted and buttoned up but waiting for a top coat.
Yep, the NVA do have Scuds
I built a DML SCUD, a Trumpeter SCUD, and I am currently (Think LOOOONG Term) building another DML SCUD with all the aftermarket I could find before there was 3D printing. SO like from 12 or so years ago.
Don’t beat yourselves up, the DML kit was HARD to assemble, especially the launcher with the rocket AND the plumbing…consider it a major milestone if you complete the DML Kit at all.
Thank you. I appreciate that. The thought of showing this to my dad really helped with motivation. He always wanted to have this a long time ago, so this was a meaningful build for me.
Yes, It took me a while researching who uses this scud launcher. I didn’t want to build an Iraqi, Soviet or Iranian one. I thought of making a North Korean Hwansong-6, but Vietnam is closer to home.
