RAF C17 Touch and Go

While dog walking earlier I watched an RAF C17 do about 5 touch and goes at Cornwall Airport (ex RAF St Mawgan)

Approach

And the touch and go …also, you can see the HAS’s and an old Canberra on the ground.

And gone …

Right time right place nice pictures. I was on a normal day visit to Duxford air museum one year only to find a spitfire flying around the airfield just above the hangers made my day.

The C17’s and A400’s from RAF BZN use it all the time for practice sessions and training flights/landings. Its one of the longest runways in the UK and was a Space Shuttle emergency landing site when that was on the go.

The C-17 is an impressive plane. Did testing with AF C-17s regular and test bird at 29 Palms. We would stand between the active runway and taxiway to measure how much the matting on the runway bowed from the weight (loaded/unloaded) and conditions (dry/wet).
