Airborne Miniatures released a new Special Ops figure in a range of scales: 1:9 , 1:16 , 1:24 and 1:35 scale.
The CAD images look great, anyone know what kind of rifle that is?
And what makes him a US Ranger?
Yes it is indeed a nice looking figure… but I don’t see a scroll on the left shoulder either…
Amazing how much the equipment has changed in 20 years.
Wow, that looks awesome, Maciek! Nice to see and know that you’re still in the modern figure business . I’ll buy one as it is so unique.
Regarding Ranger gear, I would say that nothing looks specific to Rangers, but the IR blinker on top of the helmet would not be used by law enforcement snipers. I would assume that can be left off if it’s not molded on. Fortunately, Maciek usually separates his parts so one doesn’t need to glue in the dump bag for law enforcement snipers.
I think the sniper rifle is the M2010. It is only used by the U.S. Army and not U.S. law enforcement agencies.
It’s the M2010 sniper rifle that makes him a US Army Ranger as the US Army only uses that rifle, according to Wikipedia. @metalhead85
Maciek sells a 120mm M110, but then you have the issue of “Hands aligning with the rifle” if you substitute a different rifle.
Here are Airborne Miniatures’ modern sniper figures in 1/9, 1/16, and 1/35 scale. Maciek does do custom orders if you ask him and pay via PayPal (like asking and paying for extra parts if he has them). I bought from Maciek many times directly and service and shipping were excellent and he’s a trustable seller. The best thing to do is email him directly.

Thanks for the heads up Peter, some excellent looking figures there.
I asked the same question over on planetfigure.com, only because im lazy and do not want to do multicam again. But… there is no other option. I was thinking a USSS CS guy in black, on a rooftop. I did look at IDF, but they use a different helmet. So i ordered this guy in 1/9 because why not. And i like to support Airborne-Miniatures.
I asked Maciek for the size of this 1/9 Ranger SOF figure and he said that he didn’t assemble the figure yet.
I am worried about the 1/9 spread of the entire kit since the tripod will occupy precious limited shelf space. It all comes down to how large a scale you want to depict what this figure is doing (aiming the M2010 sniper rifle). 1/16 scale is still a decent size to depict this figure and the sniper rifle on the tripod if one doesn’t want to showcase this kit as the main attraction on the display shelf.
Isn’t the M2010 used Army wide, and not strictly in Ranger Regiment? US Army Sniper yes, but as he looks now, he could be in any US Army SOF type unit in that gear and uniform.
Yes, that is correct. It can be used by the Green Berets, Rangers, or even Delta Force.
Maciek said that the figure is 3D printed so the pouches are molded onto the figure and there are very few parts, meaning that this kit should not be used for spare parts and kitbashing of parts.
Begs the question if Maciek will be making a spotter. I didn’t ask because I’m interested in the shooter.
Maciek said that he has “no plans to make a spotter. However, in the future, who knows?”
Like these guys,
Ive asked if i can get the head of this figure to use on the sniper and make as a SWAT figure in black, rather than multicam.
I haven’t built an Airborne Miniatures figure in many years. I should see what I have in my stash and commence building, but perhaps not this year as none of the Campaigns I’ve enrolled align with modern military figure building.
Actually, a lot of my figure building depends on the Armorama Campaigns available for the year. I find that I mostly build for Campaigns now. The Campaign deadlines keep me at least building something each and every year for that Campaign ribbon.
This is a missed opportunity given the legs of the figure and of the tripod could be used, already half way there, but I’m just a consumer.
One has to remember that Maciek does this as a “freetime hobby” now. It used to be his full-time job, but he works now, although I can’t speak for him personally.
