A few months back I saw an “Inspection Vehicle “ group build was planned for this year. I couldn’t wait so started building in October. If I can figure out how to upload photos I will share with you all…
The project started with building a front truck. I used the side frames from a Bachmann HO streetcar power truck and some Grandt Line 135 16" Goose wheels. I cut axles for the wheels, gauged and assembled them. Then glued small .020 thick pieces to the inside of the frames to act as spacers and as a gluing point. After that I cut a piece of .060 x .080 styrene to fit in the rectangular holes used to mount frame to the HO power truck. If you look at the lower left wheel in the photo you can see one of the spacers.
You may have noticed thats not the 34 Ford kit I started with. As the project progressed it seemed there may by some fender cutting involved and the thought of cutting metal fenders didn’t sound as easy as cutting styrene fenders. So…
Not much to tell after that. Some .020 styrene for the front “fenders” , some wheels from a Wiseman kerosene locomotive, a little Tamiya paint and its done…
Yes.
Renwal.
I built 5 inspection vehicles while waiting for the "Inspection Vehicle " group build to start.
Guess I didn’t wait…
Four of the five vehicles had Renwal parts.
Handy kits.
Maybe an On30 truck for your Mack with bigger or smaller wheels to change the look?
