Recreation of camouflage in 1/72 - 1/144 scales

Regarding interesting camouflages: does anybody have an idea, how to recreate these 2 new camouflages of our vehicles, please? In 1/72, or 1/144 scale? Because I´m ovewhelmed of number of colors and difficulties of various shapes and “semi-hues” between 2 distinctive color tones (as if they were colored one on another or something like it). :exploding_head: :exploding_head: :face_with_spiral_eyes::face_with_crossed_out_eyes:
Thank you very much!

The first one looks the “easiest” to do. A bright green, medium green and probably black green shapes with black lines. Mask the blocks and use a AK pen or marker to make the lines.

For the second, I would get like 6 rolls of tape. A few different greens, browns and maybe a gray and go panel by panel. That scheme makes digi urban camo look super easy.

Best of luck.

If I worked in those scales - they’re too small for me - I’m thinking custom decals like they make for 1/35 figure uniform camos.

Ryan is right - in those scales I would try those with markers. You’re never going to get accurate pieces of masking tape that small.

I agree - airbrush the base color, and freehand the various stripes; providing you have a steady hand!

Hi Tank_1812, thank you very much for ideas. You are right, color markers/pens should be the way. However, I’m not able to fully imagine your 2nd.advice. It’s difficult to describe by the words such a complex task, I know.

Do you mean masking tape? 1 roll =1 masking step for 1 color?
Thank you very much.

Hi Ioncray, thank you very much. Another nice and useful idea, which I didn’n consider so far ( probably because of lack of experiences with such a large decals and knowledge about good and affordable producer of custom decals.
Thank you very much!

Hi Biggles50, thank you very much for your help. That freehand is something what scaries me: all waves have sharp edges and they are pretty thin and imagination of painting them freehand, without some kind of stencils with good result is close to unbelievable to my. But despite it AK(or other producer) color pencils really should be the way.
Thank you very much.

Hi SSGToms, thank you very much for your help. I totally agree with you regarding accuracy of masking pieces. So markers should be the way despite whot I wrote in my other reply.

There is a lot going on with the paint layers so go to the simplest area possible, then assess what is happening. This is what I mean by a panel, the logical breaks the vehicle already provides.

[/quote] Yes masking tape but the number was me being silly on the quantity required. Probably not that much but depending on the your roll size more than one roll.

Thank you very much. But it is exactly what I ment writing, that I´m overwhelmed…“simplest area” and how many colors: 7?!! ?? :face_with_crossed_out_eyes: what will be the 1st.color? The lightest one to make easier to cover it with continuously darker and darker hues? And how to create fake shadows (for instance between 2 lightests shadows on right side of the area) :via pastel pencils?

I would use a computer program/app to scratch out the pattern and colors. Outside of that I would print out the photos in color, outline the areas and do a paint by number system. My attempt with the left side on a black and white photo. I used an app for my eye matching of Vallejo colors. I wouldn’t trust my mk.1 eyeball. Just an example of how to tackle the issue. I would also try on a larger scale to work out the details on a plastic sheet before scaling down to whatever scale you want.

I would go lightest to darkest color. Some filters and pastels could be used for the shaded areas.

Looks like it was inspired by Picasso’s Cubist era.

Hi Tank_1812, thank you very much for your ideas and help. I really ( and I mean REALLY) appreciate it. Thinking about your previous message I’ve got idea of using numbers in “ color layout “ too. I’ve also got idea, that to distinguish exact colors I have to use some sw. And you agree my thoughts, now. Can you advice some useful application or PC sw, please? I prefer free stuff, if possible. Thank you very much .

I haven’t used any of these options,

Google color picker, chrome had ColorZilla.

Now that you have rgb or hex code, you can use some like this site to match to a close hobby color.

On my phone I use iModelKit free version, I am sure there is others in the App Store. The pay version does have a color picker. The free version does have paint mixer to a number of hobby brand colors. Something like that helps speed up what color your interested in and what hobby paint brand you might have works or need to get.

Or like the video, go to the bench and mix your own colors. That is not really a skill set I have so something like Spot Model or iModelKit is what I would start with and then adjust to what I see on the model/plastic sheet.

Please your project as others can learn and help along the way.

Hi Tank_1812, thank you very much. Both possibilities look very promissing. I´ll definitely try them, when I´ll start this project, which is in “conideration of possibilities to transform idea into the reality” phase, now. Another necessary assumption si good and affordable model. What is what I´m searching for, now. Not easy task. Probably 1/72 would be better to not doing painting even more difficult. Or in 1/144 should be easier to fool viewer´s eyes?
