I’ve recently revied one of my several shelf-queens. Back in 2020 I started the 1/35 Revell Henschel 33 D with Part’s photoetch. I’m not sure why I shelved it at the time.
The only pictures I took from back then:
Somewhere along the way I lost the drive shafts (I’ll need to scratch build those) and the radiator fan (which I’m not worried about as the hood will be closed). Hopefully, as I go along with this revived build I won’t find that I’ve lost other parts. LOL, I panicked because I thought I lost the cab/engine firewall - a very important part. Turns out it was in the box with my shelf-queen HEMTT. I found the bench seat in there too.
Here’s where I am at the moment:
I’ve been working on some of the cab interior PE this morning. Next up though is to paint and install the exhaust and scratch the drive shafts - that will basically finish the undercarriage.

Certainly does not seem like a lot done for the time it took. Guessing I better build the kits I have with PE and resin soon before I’m too feeble.
Handles will go on the doors just before I’m ready to prime and paint. The two “grab bars” will go on shortly along with a few more bits for the firewall. Feels good to work a shelf-queen.

Lots of time-consuming little bits of PE - pedals with wire supports I forgot early in the build, straps for the jack block, latches/locks for the doors, and bits for the pioneer tools. Exhaust is painted dark iron, and…look at the size of that steering wheel!!
It’s bigger than my schwimmwagen’s tires! The white cylinders to the left of the steering wheel are the replacement axels.
There are actually parts to build the jack totally in PE! I’ve never seen that before (dang Part PE, y’all gettin’ wild!). I’m not sure I want to go through that when I can shave off a lot of the plastic one and “update” that part.
Folks, what is this part on the sidestep?
I’m pretty sure I “shelved” this build, and my HEMMT, because of the PE. Side note to myself: “Self, consider building a kit every now and then with NO PE!”

p.s. PE IMHO, really adds to a build - but it’s time consuming, can be very frustrating, and some of the parts are sooooo small. Vacuum saved me a lot of searching over the last couple of days (carpeted model room
).

The ICM had no PE and while I share your grief that inclusion by Revell does improve the kit.

Small update. I was unable to install the exhaust system. I am missing the piece from the engine to the muffler section and could not get the muffler section in because there were other parts in the way. I did install the last piece, the tailpipe, as that’s the part that really shows.
I wonder what other parts I’m missing.
Hopefully I can prime the cab and some of the miscellaneous parts tomorrow.

Were you planning on picking it up to look at the bottom a lot anyway?

Critical error made. I built the cargo box - bottom, sides, front and back, and a lot of the bits that go on it. Glued up nice and tight. And…I F’d it up enough that I can’t recover it. Pissed.
So ends the rejuvenation of the Revell Henschel 33 D.
