looking for some information about the old Revell 1/48 Jolly Green Giant kit.
years ago Revell produced this kit
over the years it has morphed into this:
from what I have seen, there are a number of parts that aren’t used to make the more modern version and all the decals are for the German version.
so is it still possible to build the old Jolly Green Giant in Vietnam war colours and are there after market decals to make this an option?

Not sure if this gets you there but ScaleMates lists this decal set:

Looks like this company has two different sets of decals.
It may be possible to build it as an earlier USAF HH-53C/D. It looks like all the needed parts are blacked out.
You can still find the original instructions on Scalemates as well.

yes, you can and the original instruction sheet is, as already said here, available on scalemates.
However, it is a real pity that the original jolly green giant is not availabel in 1/48 scale

@drabslab so i take it you can’t build an original Jolly Green Giant from this kit then?
there is the HH-3E, the original jolly green giant:
Sikorsky S-61R - Wikipedia
which was developed from the Sea King
and there is the SUPER jolly green giant:
Sikorsky MH-53 - Wikipedia
what doesn’t make it easier is that the military uses different names than the manufacturer.
So if you want to make a super jolly, the revell kit is your kit to start from, if you want to make the original HH-3E then you don’t have (if i am not wrong of course) no kit that is suitable in 1/48 scale

thanks for the explanation. they really like to make things hard for us modellers at times.
I might grab the modern Revell kit and some replacement decals but there is an earlier Revell version out there that i have my eye on.
i used the “modern” revell kit and some resin parts to make a MH-53.
Not bad but the age of the original kit really shows.
It is a real pity that all the manufacturers are combatting each other for a 1% market share of the Spitfire (how many spitfires can one build) and are not looking at the vast array of other kit options where they could have 100% of the market.
