I had this kit way back in the '60’s. Came with a large scenic base and a gun crew. I thought it was really great! Somewhere in the mid 2000’s I saw one on a shelf at an LHS and bought one out of nostalgia. Nostalgia quickly turned to nausia as I realized how terrible it really was! Or maybe the molds had just deteriorated to the point where they were no longer viable. Short-shot and warps all over the place; and the detail was so lacking…into the bin! Jean-Marc is doing an amazing scratch-build, and restoration of this old kit. :+1: :+1:

Biggles, did it look like this? One of my first, years ago. Wayne

That’s the very one! Actually, it didn’t look anything at all like that! More like a stinkin’ pile of crap!

How many of us started out building the old Revell, monogram, and other kits as youngsters? No clue about accuracy, just neat subjects. Sorry, didn’t mean to hijack your thread. Wayne

The 105mm M101 howitzer kit was originally produced by Adam’s and later Snap. I first saw them under the UPC brand in the late 60s. The series were 1/40 but Revell listed it at 1/48 because by then constant scale was important. Adam’s also produced the Honest John Rocket Launcher and the M4 tractor with 155mm Long Tom gun and the 120mm AA gun, also to 1/40 scale, I believe. The M50 Ontos and the M47 shown were produced by Renwal who proudly profaned that their kits were to a constant scale, in their case 1/32. The Weasel was produced by Monogram I believe in fit the box scale.

The scales were all over the place back then. On the M47, when you move the barrel the commander raises out of the hatch! Wayne
