Revell 2001 Chevrolet Corvette C5.R

I have recently completed my Revell 2001 Chevrolet Corvette C5.R:

As it was raced in the 2001 Rolex 24 at Daytona by Kelly Collins, Dale Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Andy Pilgrim to an overall 4th place finish in the GTS Class.

The kit went together well, although I think my chassis was a little warped, and the decals were starting to show their age. The build is Box-Stock Plus as I did add the Goodyear Eagle tire decals & Goodyear fender logos from the Gofer Racing Goodyear Tire & Fender Logos (GOF11041) as they were not included in the kit. The color is Tamiya Yellow TS-16, and the rear window is coated with Tamiya Smoke TS-71, but I think I went a little too dark. Also, for some strange reason, the US flags on the sides of the car have 48 stars, and not 50. Go figure.

Chassis shots (not very happy with the kits carbon fiber decals):

Exterior:

2001 C5.R & 2016 C7.R

Thanks for looking. Now I just need to find a C6.R.

A pair of yellow beauties there- arguably the best color for a racing Corvette! Nice to see them side by side to show off the evolution of the design- remarkably similar despite the 15 year gap.

Congrats Jim, that is a good looking build. :+1:

Beautiful cars !

I don’t know this type of car but it looks similar to rally cars with a roll bar frame in the interior and carbon decals.

I prefer the 2016 version more badass !

Very nice !

Thanks, guys. I appreciate it.

@Karl187 I’m partial to the C7.R, myself. Although the Z06 GT3.R & C8.R are pretty bad-ass looking, too.

@Terminator These are the type of care similar to the ones running in IMSA, the WEC, & GT World Challenge America. Current cars (Corvette Z06 GT3.R) use the GT3 specifications, while in 2001 it was run using the either the GT (FIA GT), GTS/GT1 (ALMS), or GTO (Grand-Am), and in 2016 it was run using the GT Le Mans (GTLM) specifications. Both iterations won at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, multiple times.
