RFM King Tiger

This is a quick overview of the box contents for the RFM King Tiger, Standard version, kit number 5137.

A good size box which is packed to the top, various images of the built kit showing how parts can be shown and extra parts that are included.

Comes with a nice set of instructions, appear to be well laid out with good clear images detailing various options where needed

Below shows the decals for 4 versions, these also include decals for the fire extinguisher.
Kit includes a nice metal barrel as well as a one piece plastic offering on a sprue. There is also a nice PE fret, which has all the engine grills and a lot of other extra bits, such as the handles for all the brackets for the Veh tools and the covers for the barrel cleaning rod mounts. A good clear sprue with all the vision blocks and a 3D printed muzzle.

It also has a spring to allow the gun to recoil, which to be honest I don’t see the point of, and also the one disappointment is the kit only has string for the recovery ropes, which I will probably replace with a metal set.
Below you can see the kit comes with dual vehicle tools, one with the full moulded bracket fitted on, and the other without that allows you to add the PE handles for a bit more realistic look.

And the tool sprue and a sprue containing parts to assemble and engine bay, with a very detailed compartment section.

Here is the outer turret section and the jig for the info link tracks

Detailed hull tub.

Sprue with hull parts which all have nice clear detailing.

Close up of the hull turret ring.

The indi track link sprues, again, nicely detailed.

Turret section sprue.

Also has a nicely detailed cupola and internal looking clamps for the vision blocks.

A very detailed and complete gun assembly sprue.

Track link pins

The kit also offers individual side skirts and the PE securing strips which you add for a bit more realism if you feel like leaving one or 2 off. Fenders and rear mudguards are also nicely detailed. Also all the engine decking is well detailed.

The kit has 3 sprues full of the wheels and sprockets with individual sprocket rings allowing for a 9 or 18 tooth version.

Close up showing some of the smaller parts

There is no real visible flashing and any sink marks all seem to be in hidden areas.
The detailing alone stands this kit out from many of the other King Tigers available and the price of 37.95 is very very good, bearing in mind you get a good PE fret, a metal barrel and a 3D muzzle.
It looks like a really nice kit and I will probably use this thread as a build thread when I get round to building it.

Price wise you cant go wrong and like I said, detailing looks very good. Compared to the upgrade version, and the small differences in what extra bits you get, in my opinion, this standard one is all you need.
