So i’ve been working on this kit for a few days, started on the tracks today and for the 1st time in my 40yrs of modeling im tossing this kit because of the tracks!!PIA in absolutely every imaginable way!I also pursched the 3d set just for back-up and they are even wirse to assemble!DONE!
Don’t toss it. Eventually somebody will do rubber band tracks for it. I’m in exactly the same situation with the two track sets. Eventually I’ll figure out how to build one.
3hrs ofcutting and then trying to put 1 link together!I still have nothing to show fot it!Overly complicated just not worth the aggravation
Done quite a few RFM kits with workable Indy links. Just takes patience and some care. Admittedly they can be fiddily.
Also a good example of be careful what you wish for. The modeling community complained about the horrible rubber band tracks and wanted links. Well, now we have them and complain that they are a PITA.
I am assuming that the M109A7 uses the same T-161 tracks and running gear as the Bradley (I do not have time to do the deep dive on it). If so, I can mod my 3D Print tracks for it sometime. I would need to get the kit first AND have time to do the work.
Id buy them!!
The measurements I sent you were actually from an M109A7.
Fantastic! now to get the kit to fit the tracks.
if you can get the length and link tracks from Kenetics M3A3 Bradly they should fit thats what i did with the panda M109A7 Paladin
Too bad can’t get one of these companies to make a M992 series vehicle
I recall seeing that the M109A7, AMPV, and Bradley share a track set. So, check for someone with rubber bands and do a test fit, or see if AFV Club or whomever has a test package of “some assembly required.”
The korean K9 uses thesame tracks and academys K9 has one piece tracks
Are we sure the Korean K9 uses T161 tracks and not something really familiar? It would be great, but it seems like it would be too coincidental.
Im sure
The Korean K9 uses a similar track, but they are not T161 tracks. The pads are different as are the center guide teeth. They look close and will do if you have to have rubber band tracks, but they are not actual T161 tracks.
Here’s a thought:
Jacques’ track compared to K9 track. The guidee horns are indeed different. There were two solutions - cut one off of each pair, or bend them together and glue them together. The looked very close to the open guide horns - even had a little divot at the top
Back when I first suggested using the K9 track I was going to Korea regularly and picked up a bunch of extra. I still have several lying about.
