SAAF Strike Camera

16 and19 Sqns. installed F-24 cameras in the noses of their Beaus. (Now, for something completely different. A Beaufighter with a camera up its nose.) Anybody know the measurements for the install? I could TLAR it. Looks like a 1/35 German smoke grenade launcher tube is close. 16 SQDN STRIKE PHOTOGRAPHS | ww2-saaf-heritage

Lens dia.looks 12.5 cm?

The F24 camera used with SAAF Beaufighters has 14-inch lens

The two cameras in the picture you’ve posted appear to be larger F52 vertical cameras with 20-inch lenses.

F24 cameras :

F52

I was going by the hand size in relation to the lens in the one photo. (My hand, wrist to first knuckle is 12.5 cm) Info at bottom of the strike photos say “F14”. Info on the F24 being used wrong? Or did they vary camera types as needed?

Maybe F14" could refer to the 14-inch lens, not the camera

'Bout all I know about cameras is you point them at something, push the button and it goes “Click” (Or if its a Japanese camera, “Crick”.) Oh! And have to take the lens cap OFF!

This look 'bout right?
