I hadn’t run these RDC units since the practice layout got taken down last year….
They were a little jerky at first, prob a combo of downtime and first exposure to the No Ox ID track coating… but after a couple min they were running super smooth…
Who produced the models?
These are Rapido products…
Should have guessed. They are beautiful models. You do need to give them a light weathering though.
I am not familiar with a RDC with a dome on it. I think it’s fascinating. What a beauty. All the better to see your big sky! So your demo layout was taken down, does that mean that this is a permanent layout?
I used to see these VIA RDC units all the time running east / west out of Toronto maybe in the 80’s/90’s usually in 3 train unit I think…but the memory is rusty…
This is the permanent layout…
The earlier layout was built to just figure some stuff out…
Soldering…curve radius…laying cork roadbed and track as I had never built a layout before
That is not a dome on the Budd RDC cars that is the radiator housing assembly to cool the engine.

I am so embarrassed.
