My first Tamiya kit was a 48 scale Pz3 N built 15 years ago when I was just starting out in the hobby.
I don’t have any more Tamiya armour kits but have a few Fw190 ones. I might join in with a JV44 Dora.
Here’s my entry for the campaign, 1/48 Fw190 D9 of JV44. I purchased this kit in 2009 and it has been languishing in my stash ever since.
As a double deal, I’ll also be building this kit in tandem - 1/48 Fw190 A8. I got it as a gift when I visited Top Pop Hobby in Istanbul a few years ago. I made a partial start and then stalled.
I hope to get both of them across the line in time as I don’t have any more space left in my hanger of queens ![]()
As I’ll be flying most of tomorrow, wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ![]()
Cheers ![]()
I was going to build a 1/35 Horch. I just looked at our club’s contest schedule. The Horch will not fit in the Special Contest themes: “Not the Big 5”, or “Japan”. I will try to build a 1/48 Citroen 11CV, T-55 or the British 7ton Armored Car Mk.IV. The armored car has Polish 1st Armored Division markings so it fits our “Not the Big 5” theme. I would need to buy decals to show a non-Russian vehicle.
I think you can find a few African or other nation/group unmarked T-55s with a google search making the decal purchase a moot point.
Finished a second one off, Tamiya’s Me-262A 2a with Aries Resin cockpit, sagged wheels and metal landing gear.
Thank you Tank_1812 I’ll keep that in mind. The problem is I probably wouldn’t place in the club contest. You gave me a Hail Mary play if I need one, I appreciate that.
I was making the Tamiya M1046 and got this far….
And then decided to make something else from that kit….
Is it still something for this campaign or shall I just withdraw it?
… and I still remember it like yesterday. Sitting in the theatre thinking ‘WOW’ as the Tantive IV blockade runner flew into the screen, only to have the wow magnified immeasurably as the pursuing Star Destroyer came on screen and the theatre started shaking….
It is also hard for me to think that some of my rock favourite albums are turning 50 this coming year…
Hotel California, Boston (More than a Feeling), Rainbow Rising, The Runaways (Cherry Bomb), (Don’t fear) The Reaper, Blondie (In the Flesh), High Voltage (AC/DC at it roots level), Jailbreak (Boys are back in Town & Jailbreak)…. and the list just goes on.
All in all, they were great times to be growing up…
So I am going to have to join in here. Don’t know with what yet…
I like the Space Balls parody, where the rear of the star destroyer has a bumper sticker that says “We brake for nobody”…
But yes those were great days for music! (AC/DC was never as good after Bon Scott died. There, I said it! Let the fighting commence…)

I say you can keep it.
OK. Fine. Fair enough. But. You gotta give Back In Black the credit it is due. Its a pretty good album. And, I’m just saying,
back in 2003, after the SARS epidemic in Toronto, there was a huge outdoor-its over-lets party concert. Started in the after noon and went late into the night. It was a blast. The Stones were the headliners. AC/DC was on before them. They stole the show. Place was half empty for the Stones.
The Stranglers were not the same after Hugh Cornwell’s departure, but I still bought the albums.
I saw the Stranglers in Perth (Scotland) a few decades ago with their new singer, and was sadly disappointed.
As for AC/DC I never said they were bad under Brian Johnson, just not quite as good - I liked the tone of Bon Scott’s voice! I lived with some die-hard metalheads in the mid-90s who were obsessed with them, so they were the soundtrack to my 20s…
Hi all
Here is my entry: JGSDF Type 16 MCV C5 with a Tamiya aluminum gun barrel.
The model has been issued in 2023 and depicts the upgraded version of the Type 16. It includes a small PE plate, a masks sheet (they are not pre-cut though), a decals sheet and a multilingual historical and technical background leaflet. The metal gun barrel has the typical pepper pot muzzle brake. If you use the plastic gun, you can depict it either with a decal or by drilling out the numerous holes using a mask as a template.
The detail is crisp, the cast is perfect as is the fit.
The first steps deal with the preparation of the upper hull if you intend to use the winch. I have also replaced the molded-on handles on the upper hull.
