The advantage of silver plating is you assemble and you are mostly done. However if you sand/ fill any seams or the like then you will have to paint it anyway and the silver is of no advantage. The odds of matching their silver is probably slim.

I don’t get the point of putting plating on the plastic when it still has the imperfections of the injection moulding.

It is not for the skilled modeler but for those who do not paint their kits.
