Soft skin vehicles of the DAK

Was the Krupp Protze or L2H43 and L2H143 ever shipped/used in North Africa by the DAK? I just have not seen any pictures of them in the desert. Maybe I’m just missing them, but does anyone have good evidence that they were or were not there?

Hi,
Your question got me curious, so I googled “krupp protze in north africa wwii.” Clicked on the images tab and several photos came up, several being in convoys. Many of the photos were listed on Pinterest. I don’t have a Pinterest account so I couldn’t download them. So the answers to your questions are yes it was used and photos of several variants in use are available online.
Hope this helps.
John

Hi. I found a couple of photos but there’s not many of such vehicles in North Africa.

From the Australian War memorial website;

And from a French language modelling site;

Some of these may have been in Greece though but some are fairly certainly North Africa;

Hey that’s great! Thank you both. I just didn’t dig into it enough. I really like this little vehicle so I’m glad I can do both the AT tractor and the personnel carrier in DAK livery. Thanks.

You can frequently drag the full-size photo from Google’s preview:

Else, you can go to the Pinterest page, open your browser’s developer’s tools and go to the Sources tab where you can view all of the images that are on the page:

If you see one you like, just drag-and-drop it to your desktop or right-click it and save it.

(This screenshot, BTW, is in Dutch because I didn’t feel like closing Safari, going into the system settings to change its language, restarting it, taking the screenshot, and then changing the language back.)
